SLCCC Resume Congregational Worship Notice

SLCCC re-opening for Sunday Worship Update (as of 5/23/2020)

Lord willing, we will resume our Sunday morning worship service at St Louis Chinese Christian Church on May 31, 2020.

We desire to offer you a safe environment, in which we can practice the Biblical principle of gathering together to worship our Lord. At this time, our in person services will be on Sundays at 9:30 am only, the worship process will remain the same as those of current online worship.

The following protocols have been adopted to honor the spirit of the new Public Health standards in St. Louis County effective May 18, 2020.

I. What can I expect? Will this be an old regular  Sunday?

This will not be an old regular Sunday in the sense that how we last met together. Here is what you can expect …

Seating

Every other pew will be partitioned off and those non-family members who share a pew will sit 6 feet apart (marked with tape).  Family needs to sit together as a unit.

The new St. Louis County standards specify, among other things, that physical distancing is expected but families may sit together. In addition, church gatherings are permitted in buildings provided the attendance is limited to 10-25% of the legal occupancy (eg “fire code” occupancy). Our church has  an occupant number limit of 1258 on our church property and approximately 450 of the sanctuary (350 lower level and 100 upper level). Consequently, we will be able to seat approximately 100-125 persons.

By God’s providence, we should be able to seat our usual SLCCC attendance in this way (some chairs will be arranged in the foyer and if we cannot accommodate  all attendees in the sanctuary, the foyer can be used as well). Please bear in mind that live streaming will be continued for those unable to join us at the SLCCC church location.

Worship Services

We will resume our 9:30am Worship Service only. Other meetings will continue to be deferred to a later date.

Headphone usage

For those who need headphones for simultaneous translation, each headphone will be put in a plastic bag with a blank name tag on the outside. After you use the headphone the first  time, please write your name on the tag, clean the headphone with alcohol wipes after and/or before you use it,  put it back in the plastic bag and leave it on the foyer table or bring home if you can remember to bring it back next  week. If you leave it on the foyer table, please find it (in alphabetical order) on next Sunday service.

Streaming

The sermon will continue to be streamed in the same manner. For our members who choose to stay home, they should notice minimal differences.

Childcare and Children’s Sunday School/Worship

Following the recommendation of our health officials, we will not be offering any childcare nor children’s Sunday School/Worship. All families will sit in the sanctuary in units. Parents should feel free to bring activities and quiet toys to help entertain children as needed. As a church, we will be patient and gracious to those with young children and welcome them into the worship time with joy.

Bulletin

E-bulletins will continue to be posted on church website (https://www.slccc.org/site/wp-content/uploads/bbs/slccc_bbs.pdf),  and will send to church members via email. If you are not church member and willing to receive  the bulletin, please contact brother Yanfeng Jiang (Felixannika@gmail.com) and your email address can be added to the group list.

There will be a limited number of paper bulletins available for those who need them.

Offering

The offering bag will not be passed. There will be a large offering chest at the back of sanctuary and a small offering box on the table of the foyer into which attendees may drop their gift. Additionally, you may mail offerings or use electronic deposit.

II. What about health and safety?

Face masks

You can choose to wear a face mask or not , however, it is not mandatory.  You are absolutely welcome to wear a face mask。

Bathrooms

The bathrooms will be available for use. The seats will be wiped down by the user if you choose to with approved cleaner.

Physical Distancing

We will practice social distancing at all times. We ask that our members refrain from hugging and shaking hands.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance and Foyer table.

Entrances

All entrance doors will be propped open during arrival and exit times.

Food and Drinks

The church will not be providing any type of food or coffee. We will have a limited number of bottled water in the foyer table. The church’s water fountains will be unavailable for use.

Gathering in the Lobby

Upon arrival, we ask that attendees proceed directly to their seats and fellowship from their seats. Please do not gather in groups and remain in the lobby.

The deacons desire to offer you a safe environment in which we can practice the Biblical principle of gathering together to worship our Lord. If you are not feeling well or remain uncomfortable with returning to a public venue, please by all means stay home,  do not need to feel you have the obligation to come, nevertheless, do continue to worship with us online.
