釋經式講道的目的是按上下及前後經文等等，把每節聖經經文照神的原意顯明，聽者從聖經中 (聽道時打開我們每人自己的聖經，逐節跟隨) 明白神要我們明白的，結論和應用就會自然銘刻在聽者的心思和意念中。牧師自己的提示，結論和應用的視覺輔助，就不是那麼重要了。投影的目的是將牧師自己的提示，結論和應用先告訴聽者，使聽眾更容易的明白和記住牧師自己的提示，結論和應用。釋經式講道時，即使沒有投影，若怕忘記，可以記筆記在你的聖經邊上，你的筆記本，或者在事先打印出的講道大綱上。

The goal of expository preaching is to learn the author’s/God’s intent over the passage under studying through verse by verse study, through linguistics, historic background, biblical usage of language, biblical context, and etc. When the listener understands what is God’s intention of those verses from carefully examining Scripture itself (open our own Bibles when we listen to the preaching, and follow through each verse), conclusions and applications will be naturally imprinted in the listeners’ hearts and mind. The visual aid of a pastor’s own prompts, conclusions and applications will not be that important anymore. The purpose of powerpoint usually is giving beforehand to aid for what the preachers want the listeners to know and remember, the preachers’ own prompts, conclusions and applications. Even if there is no powerpoint in expository preaching, if you are afraid that you may forget what you just learned, you can take notes on the side of your Bible, your notebook, or on the pre-printed sermon outline (from our church website).
